Reading the Chart

Compare whether the specialties with the largest bed capacity in an AHA align with local consultant staffing. Persistent gaps can reflect cross-AHA referral patterns, historical centralisation, or planned specialisation.

Key Observations

  • Large bed bases without matching consultant headcount (or the reverse).
  • Neighbouring AHAs sharing similar capacity profiles—possible shared catchments.
  • Specialties that rarely appear with significant bed capacity—likely centralised elsewhere.
